Having Finance, Resources and Transformation in her portfolio, she is extremely interested in how Social Enterprises can help lead Local Wealth Creation, by developing a more robust working relationship with their commercial counterparts and how in turn private businesses can help the social community, become more open to financial arrangements more usual in the private sector.
In a meeting at Wigan Hall (rapidly becoming seen as the new digital hub of the town) lasting 2 hours, councillor Rehman listened intently to the work being done already, in Bickershaw and the wider Abram Ward by WLCC, Magicalogical Ltd. and Pianos, Pies and Pirouettes CIC, (one of the many organisations seed funded by David Baxter at WLCC through his Power to Change programme).
Councillor Rehman was keen to give her own ideas on how this already successful partnership could not only help drive forward the Council’s 2040 vision, but could also be the blueprint for change, for other social enterprises both locally and nationally.
