Wigan Borough… PROPER GOOD LAUNCH EVENT

Blog Created: July 18, 2022

The Wigan Borough saw the launch of the Proper Good programme on Thursday 30th of June at St Peter’s Pavilion. As one of four Boroughs supported by the programme (including Bolton, Oldham and Stockport), Wigan saw representatives from no less than 38 organisations and social enterprises turn up to support the launch. It was great to see so many familiar and new faces coming together to support the development of social enterprise in the Wigan Borough! The event included an introduction to the programme and workshops that focused on topics such as ‘The journey of a social entrepreneur’ & ‘An introduction to social investment’.

“It was a ‘Proper Good’ way to get people talking about social enterprise and the value that it brings to our community. I definitely left feeling more inspired about my work and I know that people have a better understanding of where they can now go for help and support!”

Your new Programme Coordinator.

We are delighted to introduce Alex Winstanley as your new Proper Good Programme Coordinator…

“I am really pleased to have taken on a part-time role as Programme Coordinator for the Wigan Borough Proper Good programme! Since leaving my teaching role in 2019 and setting up a social enterprise from absolutely nothing, with no business skills, contacts or experience, I have had to learn a lot of lessons pretty quickly! I am passionate about empowering people to create positive change and I hope that my experiences so far and ongoing learning will help other local social entrepreneurs to achieve their goals and dreams. I have found that working together with great, like-minded people is the key to success and true impact, and I’m sure the programme will allow people to do just that! “
